Kathy Colledge: Textile Artist and Quilter
Kathy's interest in design and stitch have taken her into the world of textile art.
She draws her inspiration from many sources - especially from nature and, living on the North Norfolk coast she is never short of beautiful colours, scenery and wildlife to trigger ideas.
She makes machine-quilted wallhangings which are characterised by curved lines and organic shapes, sometimes with hand-painted cloth. Her former preference for strong colours has recently given way to a more subtle palette of neutral tones.
Kathy has exhibited inthe UK and abroad where her work has won awards and her work is included in private collections.

Sentinel Crabs The neutral colours of this quilt were suggested by the muddy shoreline habitat of these creatures with long eye stalks. Thermofax printing with machine quilting. |
Riveting Rust The rust dyed fabric itself was the starting point for this piece. Rust dyed cotton fabric, machine quilted with motifs of riveted, painted Vilene. |
